The Dallas Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) provides a broad spectrum of both emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens and visitors of our community.

DVFD is a unique organization that strives to anticipate the needs of the citizens, and has a long tradition of providing high quality fire, rescue, and fire prevention services to the Greater Dallas Community. We take pride in the delivery of fire protection, fire control and fire prevention services with a genuine commitment to those we serve. We provide fire safety classes annually to Carr Elementary School, the local day care centers and the senior citizens at the Church Street Apartments. These services are provided by highly-trained and motivated staff of volunteer and paid professionals. The department also plays a major part in the annual Fourth of July fireworks display, as well as being in charge of the annual Christmas Parade.

Fire Chief Earl Withers III works side-by-side with the 34 dedicated men and women of the DVFD. Through their time, talents, dedication to duty and dignity in work effort, they provide the utmost quality service to our community.

Dallas Fire Department Lock Box Program

The Town of Dallas Fire Department offers a free residential lock box program to help emergency responders gain quick access to your home in the event of an emergency — without needing to break through a door or window. With your written permission, a secure lock box containing your house key will be installed at your residence. Only the Fire Chief or their designee will have the access code, and it will be used only during an emergency.

For more information or to enroll in this program, please contact the Dallas Fire Department.

Facilities and Apparatus
The Town's state-of-the-art fire station at 209 W. Main Street, built in 2009, currently operates two (2) engines; One (1) 105 ft Tower Ladder, One (1) Brush Truck and 2 Command Vehicles. This fleet assists with calls throughout the Town of Dallas as well as mutual aid to other departments in Gaston County as needed. We take great pride in maintaining our station and apparatus as they are a direct reflection of our membership and the community we serve. If our doors are open, you are welcome to stop in and take a picture with our trucks.
Honors and Awards

In recent years, the Dallas Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded several federal and state grants, including Homeland Security's "Assistance to Firefighters" (AFG) and the "Fire Prevention and Safety" Grant(s) as well as the "NC Dept. of Insurance OSFM Volunteer Firefighter's Grant". Specifically:

  • FEMA Fire Grant for $102,600 to purchase 20 SCBA Units
