The Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group has issued a Stage 1 (Voluntary Reduction) drought advisory for the region due to extended dry weather and below-average rainfall across the Catawba-Wateree River Basin.
Due to being under a Stage 1 drought conditions, Town of Dallas residents are encouraged to voluntarily conserve water. Water users are encouraged to reduce their water use and improve water use efficiency; however, no penalties apply for noncompliance.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Limit outdoor watering where possible
- Avoid watering during the hottest part of the day
- Repair leaks in plumbing or irrigation systems
- Reduce non-essential uses such as washing driveways or leaving water running
These voluntary conservation efforts are essential to protecting the local water supply and will help reduce the likelihood of future mandatory restrictions. The Town of Dallas will continue to monitor conditions in coordination with regional partners and will provide updates as they become available.
