Since 1962 the Dallas V.F.D., which consists of approximately 24 active firefighters, has proudly served the area by providing fire protection for the town, and mutual aid for neighboring communities.
Dedicated to the fire protection of children, adults, senior citizens, businesses and property, the department's mission is to respond to, and mitigate, emergencies involving fire and entrapment of people, as well as provide fire prevention education to local schools and businesses. The department also assists with several community events and sponsors the popular annual Dallas Christmas parade.
In recent years the Dallas Fire Department has been awarded several federal and state grants, including Homeland Security’s “Assistance to Firefighter's" (AFG) and the “Fire Prevention and Safety" Grants, and NC Dept of Insurance OSFM Volunteer Firefighter's Grant. The Town of Dallas and the department actively seek all available grant monies in order to provide the best service possible for our citizens.

New Educational Programs
Recently the department introduced two innovative fire safety public education campaigns: "Fire Safe Kids" and "Fire Safe Senior Buddies".
These educational programs consist of demonstrations, fire drills, inspections and special literature aimed at fire safety for young children and senior-citizens. The safety techniques are taught at local day care providers, kindergarten through second grade classes and senior-citizen living facilities.
