Airport

The Gastonia Municipal Airport is located off of Union Road in Gastonia. Call (704) 864-4363 for flight information. Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is located off Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte, NC. (Approximately 19 miles from Dallas traveling I-85 N) For Airline information and Reservations call:

Animal Control (704) 922-8677
Animal Control is a department within the Gaston County Police Department. Animal Control officers respond to reports of dangerous stray and nuisance animals. It is unlawful for dogs to run loose in the County. All dogs and cats, four months of age, are required to be vaccinated against rabies. Within three days of the vaccination, animal owners must purchase form Animal Control a license tag for their animal. The Department of Animal Control is located at 220 Leisure Lane in Biggerstaff Park in Dallas.

Building Inspections (704) 866-3960
Building Inspections for the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Dallas are conducted by the Gaston County Building Section, as division within the Gaston County Code Enforcement Department. Information concerning building permits, building coded, minimum housing codes, building inspections, and related matters can be obtained from this department.

Collections and Billing
Collections and Billing are both located in Town Hall at 210 N. Holland St. Staff is available to receive payments for utilities, business licenses, zoning permits, and all other revenue collected by the Town. The staff can answer questions concerning bill inquiries, trash collection, town services, and customer service. A drop box is located on the right side of the building for after hours payment drop-off. All payments for services must be made by cash, check, or money order. No debit or credit cards can be accepted. Business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Purchasing and Accounting functions are located in Town Hall at 210 N. Holland St. Accounting staff is available to answer questions concerning the Town's budget and other Town financially-related items.

Fire Department (704) 922-7736 **In case of Emergency dial 911**
The Dallas Fire Station is located at 207 W. Church St. Areas within the Town limits are served by the Dallas Volunteer Fire Department. Areas on the outskirts of Town are served by either Spencer Mountain or Agriculture Center Volunteer Fire Departments. The Gaston County Fire Marshal's office conducts inspections of schools, day cares, foster homes, commercial buildings, and records any violations and assures corrections. The Fire Marshal also investigates fires of a suspicious nature. Burning permits for areas within Town limits are available at Town Hall located at 210 N. Holland St. Permits can only be obtained to burn off garden spots or vacant lots. Burning permits for areas outside of Town limits may be obtained at the Gaston County Agriculture Center located at 1303 Dallas Cherryville Highway.

The Human Resources function is located in Town Hall at 210 N. Holland St. Staff is available to answer questions about employment with the Town and to assist in completing the application process for employment.

Library Services (704) 922-3621
The Dallas Branch of the Gaston-Lincoln Regional Library is located at 105 S. Holland St. Library hours are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Wednesday and Saturday. The Main Branch is located at 1555 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC. The phone number for the main Branch is (704) 868-2164. Any resident of Gaston or Lincoln counties may receive a library card free of charge.

Recreation Department (704) 922-6011
The Recreation Department is located at 208 W. Church St. in the Gym. The Recreation Department oversees soccer, basketball, cheerleading, and baseball leagues for children and youth.

Planning and Zoning
The Planning and zoning office is located at 210 N. Holland St. in the Administrative Offices building. The Zoning Officer is available to answer questions concerning zoning, setback requirements, subdivision regulations, noise regulations, fencing requirements and setbacks, rezoning matters, property uses, annexation, city development plans, downtown improvement appearance grants, economic development, planning commission, and stormwater regulations.

Public Works (704) 922-9961

The Public Works Department is located at 700 E. Holly St. Office hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. If there is an emergency, such as a power outage or water main break, and the Public Works Office is closed, call the Dallas Police Department at (704) 922-3116. They will notify on-call personnel, who will respond to the situation as soon as possible.

The department consists of several divisions:


  • The Electrical Division
    Oversees the electrical service provided by the Town of Dallas. Questions or problems concerning electrical services can be reported to (704) 922-9961 or (704) 922-3176.

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment plants
    The Water Treatment Plant is located at 1342 Dallas Stanley Hwy. The South Fork River is the source of the town's water supply. Questions concerning water treatment should be directed to (704) 922-1309. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 700 E. Holly St. Questions concerning wastewater treatment should be directed to (704) 922-0517.

  • The Water and Sewer Division
    Maintains the town's system of water and sewer lines. Questions or problems concerning water or sewer services can be reported at (704) 922-3866 or (704) 922-3176.

  • The Street and Sanitation Division
    The division is responsible for maintaining the town's streets. Questions or problems concerning street or sanitation services should be directed to (704) 922-961 or (704) 922-3176. This division routinely patrols the streets picking up brush and bulk items placed at the curb. The Sanitation Division does not accept tires, automobile batteries, paint, containers that have held any fuel products, concrete, bricks, or dirt.

Town Clerk (704) 922-3176
The Town Clerk is located at 210 N. Holland St. in the Town Hall. The Town Clerk can provide information about Board of Aldermen meetings, agendas and minutes, town ordinances, applications for Boards and Commissions, and official town records.

Community Development (704) 922-3176
Community Development is located at 210 N. Holland St. in the Town Hall. The Community Development staff is available to answer questions concerning the availability of housing rehabilitation funds, home ownership/down payment assistance, or any other grants that may be available. In addition, the staff can provide information regarding current community and economic development projects, as well as information regarding the website.

Gaston County Access Transportation
The purpose of Access is to maximize the use of existing transportation resources to provide economical transportation services for Human Service Agencies and for the general public. Access provides seven basic transportation services:

  1. Subscription Routes - Daily van service to and from the same destination.
  2. Demand Response - Individual service for one-time schedules trips, i.e., medical appointments, service agencies, etc.
  3. Special Field Trips - One-time trips in and out of county, driver provided by the department.
  4. Vehicle Lease - Gaston County Departments and Contracting Human Service Agencies may lease vehicles from the Department for special one-time trips. Drivers, however, must meet County requirements.
  5. Rider Service - Some Human Service Agencies require that riders be provided on subscription routes for the protection of their clients.
  6. Private Taxi Service - The Department makes the arrangements directly with the cab companies and bills the Human Service Agency monthly for any service provided in this manner.
  7. Private Interstate Bus Lines - The Department makes the arrangements directly with the bus company and bills the Human Service Agency monthly for any service provided in this manner. Because this service requires the County to make payment upon request for the ticket, the Department adds a $5.00 administrative cost to the price of the bus ticket.

When the service is provided by the Department, payment is expected at the time the transportation service is rendered, unless an account arrangement is made for monthly billing.
